At the beginning of June, we took part in Multiplex’s charity football tournament at Hackney Marshes. The annual 7-a-side tournament was held to raise money for nominated charities Chickenshed, which provides young people with access to the performing arts, and Willow, which works with seriously ill young adults.
The tournament also gave us an opportunity to showcase our new strip at what was a fantastic event. Having won our first match 1-0 thanks to a goal from Zac Cornish, things changed when we then lost 1-0 to the host Multiplex. It was definitely a day of highs and lows for our team – making it through to the quarter finals where a 0-0 draw meant a dreaded penalty shoot out. Despite a gallant effort from our goalkeeper Danny Neil, who pulled out a top class save, we missed two of our penalties and were unfortunately knocked out.
