Prater, the UK’s leading building envelope contractor, has been named by Aspire Defence as ‘Safety First Always Trade Contractor of the Year’ for their work on the Warminster Project.
Aspire Defence is delivering Project Allenby/Connaught, the largest infrastructure PFI contract ever let by the MoD across the garrisons of Salisbury Plain and in Aldershot, and is a joint venture between Carillion and KBR. Project Allenby/Connaught is improving the quality of life for over 18,700 soldiers, 20% of the British Army, thanks to the provision of modern, high quality, fully serviced and purpose built living and working accommodation.
Prater was recognised for rigorously enforcing Safety First Always standards not only in their own works but also in support of other trade contractors.
Nick Brautigam, Project Director at Prater, received the award and commented: “At Prater we always strive for the highest standards in health and safety and have been successfully driving down our accident frequency rate (AFR). It is great to be awarded this accolade and be commended for our constant efforts.”
The Aspire Defence Capital Works Safety First Always Awards were created to recognise and celebrate the workforce and contractors who have demonstrated their commitment to health and safety on Project Allenby/ Connaught. Prater was particularly commended for their health and safety ethic. Aspire Defence were impressed by Prater’s proactive approach in resolving another trade contractor’s issue where an electrical feed associated to the welding equipment was required to be used on the roof. To ensure safe access at all times, Prater installed and maintained temporary walkways on the roof.
