Prater the UK’s leading building envelope contractor has recently expanded with the introduction of a new fabrication facility in Thurrock.  This 24,000ft state of the art facility will fabricate curtain walling sections, windows and doors for Prater sites throughout the UK.  Prater have invested heavily in new machinery for the facility including state of the art CNC machines which are linked back to their Head Office in Salfords, Surrey.

This new facility supports their existing light guage metal fabrication facility acquired from Kingspan two years ago, based in Crowborough, East Sussex.

In becoming the UK’s leading building envelope contractor, Prater had always identified their plans for expansion into the curtain walling sector and having invested heavily in its people, bringing in experienced and technically competent individuals, the setting up of this fabrication facility provided the final stepping stone in their journey to become a true glass façades installer.

Business Development Director, Andy Newman, commented: “Over the past 12 months we have focussed on expanding our business to deliver the best and most cost effective building envelope solutions for our clients.  We realised that there was a niche in the market to manufacture our own systems and are now the only building envelope company with its own curtain walling production capabilities.”

“It is an exciting time at Prater and we look forward to growing the company further as we enter 2010 with a stronger team and offering for our clients.”
