SCOPE OF WORKS Ruukki pre fabricated roof panels, insulated soffit panels, aluminium vertical cladding, glazing and curtain walling, Sarnafil single ply roofing membrane and a free standing handrail protection system.
Working with BAA and their first Tier supply chain, Prater were involved in the development, design and construction of a series of major projects at Gatwick Airport including the innovative Pier 6 and Piers 2 and 3. Unique offsite manufacturing and pre-assembled building solutions developed by Prater in conjunction with their supply partners were instrumental to the success of these major projects.
Pier 6, connects to the airport’s North Terminal by means of a spectacular 32m high footbridge and is the largest development at Gatwick since the opening of the North Terminal in 1988. By utilising off-site techniques, Prater was able to install over 1000m˛ of completed works in a single day while the airport remained fully operational.
In addition, Prater manufactured substantial volumes of new works at a nearby fabrication facility specifically set up to produce “slices” of the 300m long corridor for Piers 2 and 3. These completed units were then transported and installed on-site during airport night shutdowns. RELATED DISCIPLINES:
