St Helens Hospital is being redeveloped with the construction of a new Diagnostic and Treatment Centre, building commenced in July 2006 with the hospital due to open in November 2008. This prestigious 25,000 sq m project features a total envelope solution provided and installed by Prater which embraces the roofs, external walls and glazed areas. A large glazed atrium entrance constructed by Prater utilising a curtain walling system will be the focal point of the new hospital, providing access to all departments.
Prater installed a wide range of building systems including Kingspan’s offsite manufactured walling system which allows for rapid construction of the external façade. Further scope of works included: a Latchway mansafe system, steel and louvered doors to plant areas, a range of cladding systems, free standing handrails and architectural balustrades and PPC cappings and soffits.
