SCOPE OF WORKS 4,875m2 Kalzip aluminium standing seam roofing system, 2,300m2 Schuco FW50+SG structural glazed curtain walling, Colt smoke vents, bespoke aluminium fascias and soffits, and an anodised aluminium aerofoil Brise Soliel .
North Kent Police HQ is a new ‘state of the art’ police operational centre at Northfleet, Kent.
The 11,500m2 four story building houses police officers, civilian staff, evidential stores and a 40 cell custody suite.
This £30 m PFI project has many energy saving features including a geothermal system which supplies water for the air conditioning plant - the rainwater is also collected and used for non drinking water applications.
Prater were commissioned to design and install key elements of the building envelope including: two Kalzip standing seam roofs totalling 4875m2 which incorporated Colt automatic smoke vents and sun pipes - the latter allowing natural light into the custody suite below. The roof was complemented with bespoke aluminium feature fascias and a soffit system.
Prater also designed and installed 2,300m2 of Schuco curtain walling which incorporated fittings to accommodate a stone vertical and horizontal banding feature façade - an innovative solution conceived by Prater’s design team.
A substantial Brise Soliel which included aerofoil blades with access and maintenance walkways behind, completed the scope of works for this highly impressive building.
