Westfield London is Europe’s largest urban shopping centre, spanning over 149,000 sq. m. The £1.7 billion development is an impressive mix of retail, leisure and restaurant space in West London.
Working with supply chain partners, Prater provided Westfield with the complete design and build package, which included the development’s green roofs and structural wall panels.
The completed project comprised; five Alumasc Sedum System green roofs; Permaquik hot applied roofing; Sarnafil single ply; aluminium Kalzip roofing and Paroc wall panels. Prater implemented green roofing techniques which significantly improved the sustainability at Westfield London, and also helped to reduce storm water run-off.
The base level of the green roofs was built onto the structural decking; a root deterent torch-on system was then followed by a drainage mat with a geotextile membrane bonded to it to prevent any soil loss. The Paroc structural panels were constructed of rockboard insulation sandwiched between two steel skins.
