We are delighted to announce that we have recently been appointed to deliver a broad scope of works at the redevelopment of the London Fruit and Wool Exchange in Spitalfields. The remit will include ground floor, terrace and roof waterproofing, finishes and roof level cladding works.

Demolition of the iconic site commenced in 2015, excluding the historic 1928 façade that will be retained while the rest of the facades will be remodelled from similar building materials.

Located opposite Old Spitalfields Market and Bishops Square, the redevelopment will see the building turned into 320,000 sq ft of grade A office, retail and restaurant space, with a pedestrian route being created through the centre of the building to allow greater access on the site.

The team's extensive scope of works includes the installation of structural waterproofing as well as insulation across several levels of the building. Other elements include installation of Mansafe systems, roof and wall cladding, louvre screens, traditional zinc roofing and a mixture of roof finishes from standard ballast and paving to green roofing as well as quality bespoke paving to the terraces.

The prestigious redevelopment will also see the creation of approximately 2,300 jobs.

Russell Green, Project Manager said: “This project is the latest addition to our portfolio of high profile London developments. Co-ordinating the logistics of such a broad scope of works requires the knowledge and experience of a specialist envelope contractor and we are proud to be involved in the project at this iconic site.”

Work is now underway, with final completion of the project scheduled for Spring 2018.
