Prater delivered an extensive scope of works including waterproofing and insulation to the development Crossrail Place at the new Canary Wharf station.
Crossrail Place, the five-storey mixed use development designed by architects Foster & Partners, sits above a newly constructed Canary Wharf Station – an ambitious project that is part of the greater Crossrail development, looking to connect the east of London to the west with the installation of the new underground Elizabeth Line. The station is situated on the iconic West India Quay dock, surrounded by the Thames River.
Working alongside trusted supply chain partners Radmat and Wraxalls, Prater’s scope of works included delivering a 9,300m2 roofing solution that included a Permaquik waterproofing system, insulation and the installation of standard concrete slabs to the new plantroom areas.
Crossrail Place improves connections across the city, allowing commuters to travel from London’s main business district to other key locations, such as Heathrow and the West End. The station will also provide the public with a beautiful garden to explore as well as shopping facilities and a selection of restaurants.
Crossrail Place is now open to the public, with the new Canary Wharf station currently in the final testing and commissioning stage. The new Elizabeth line is currently due to be available from Q4 2020. When operational, the Crossrail route will run from Reading and Heathrow in the west, through to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east.
