We have recently completed work on the commercial building at Principal Place – a new mixed-use development located in the London Borough of Hackney. Appointed by Multiplex, the project also features two other companies owned by the Lindner Group – Lindner Facades and Lindner Interiors.

The new development, designed by the Foster + Partners, comprises a 600,000-square foot office building; 20,000-square foot of retail space and a 50-storey luxury residential apartment block.

Our remit has included the delivery of the complete roofing package to the commercial development, whilst our partners Lindner Interiors designed, manufactured and installed 26,000m2 of LMD B100 suspended ceilings to levels 3-15 of the building. Lindner Facades is currently in the process of installing the façade to Principal Tower – the residential facet of the development.

To balance both aesthetic and performance, our work features both green and brown roofing in order for the project to achieve BREEAM certification. Our complete scope of works included a hot melt package, CGL rainscreen cladding, Bailey’s rainscreen and horizontal Brise Soleil sun shading system, Kingspan composite and SIPS panels, Chinese granite paving, composite Millboard decking, steelwork, louvres and metal doors.

The biggest challenge faced during the project was the small building footprint. With multiple trades onsite, work and deliveries had to be planned meticulously to ensure no conflicts with fellow contractors. Detailed forward planning ensured that congestion was eased and the potential for accidents was reduced.
