The state-of-the-art Ebbw Vale Sports Centre in South Wales boasts a range of sporting facilities including swimming pools, a fitness suite, four multi-use games areas and café for the adjacent schools as well as the surrounding community.
Prater was appointed by main contractor Wilmott Dixon to deliver an extensive scope of works and our expertise was invaluable in terms of completing the challenging installation of a modern structure with a variety of roof construction requirements.
This included a metal standing seam roof and wall system featuring insulation, vapour barrier, a variety of liner sheets and structural trays forming a variety of roof build-ups, all of varying depths to meet the acoustic and thermal requirements of the centre.
As well as the roofing package, we also installed the terracotta rainscreen, louvres, profiled cladding, Rockpanel rainscreen, curved ALUCOBOND® rain screen feature fascias, which follow the contours of the roof.
Despite the challenging nature of the project and poor weather conditions, construction was completed on time and under budget, resulting in a surplus of £149,000 being returned to the Welsh Government. In addition, the building has met the BREEAM standards of 'excellent' and Secure by Design.
