Overview Expand

Working with BAA and its first tier supply chain, Lindner Prater was involved in the development, design and construction of a series of major projects at Gatwick Airport including Pier 2, 3 5 and 6.

In conjunction with our supply partners, we developed unique offsite manufacturing and pre-assembled building solutions and these proved central to the success of the overall project.

The new north terminal extension at Gatwick Pier 5 included 6000 sq m of Pro-Roof that encompasses Sika Sarnafil Membrane to the main roof areas. With safety and protection core to the design and construction requirements, the contract involved the installation of 17 bomb blast roof lights, 2000 sq m of bomb blast structurally glazed facade, 5200 sq m of enhanced Trimo vertical cladding and metal cladding facade to the main elevation of the North Terminal.

In addition, Pier 6 connects to the airport’s North Terminal by means of a spectacular 32m high footbridge and is the largest development at Gatwick since the opening of the North Terminal in 1988. Using off-site manufacturing techniques, we were able to install over 1000 sqm of completed works in a single day while the airport remained fully operational.

In addition, we manufactured substantial volumes of new works at a nearby fabrication facility specifically set up to produce ‘slices’ of the 300m long corridor for Piers 2 and 3. These completed units were then transported and installed on-site during airport night shutdowns.
